New for 2026:

Teenage Training Classes

As dogs grow and gain life experience, their training needs often change. Some dogs need help refining recall, others struggle with loose lead walking, impulse control, focus, or confidence. The adolescent period is one of the most stressful times for dog ownership, as their once docile puppy has become flooded with hormones, which can make even basic training a real challenge.

Teenage Training is a supportive, six-week training programme designed for dogs aged between 6 and 24 months who would benefit from individualised training, while still working calmly alongside other dogs in a controlled indoor environment. Rather than following a rigid, one-size-fits-all syllabus, each dog works on their own specific goals, with training adapted to suit their ability, experience, and emotional needs.

How Teenage Training Works

Teenage Training runs in six-week blocks, with weekly 45-minute sessions. This structure allows time for dogs to settle, learn, practise, and make real progress, while giving owners consistency and ongoing support.

Each session includes:

  • shared foundation exercises that benefit all dogs

  • personalised coaching tailored to your dog’s individual goals

  • real-life training around other dogs in a calm, managed setting

Training focuses on common life skills such as:

  • loose lead walking

  • recall foundations

  • impulse control

  • focus and engagement

  • confidence building

  • general manners and everyday behaviours

This approach allows dogs to develop skills at their own pace, without pressure to perform or compare themselves to others.

Confidence & Enrichment

Every six-week block includes a structured confidence-building session, using carefully introduced equipment such as tunnels and agility-style setups.

These sessions are designed to:

  • build confidence and resilience

  • improve body awareness and coordination

  • provide mental enrichment

  • encourage problem-solving in a supportive way

All exercises are adapted to suit individual dogs, including those with injuries, physical limitations, or reduced confidence.

Who Teenage Training is suitable for:

  • dogs between 6 and 24 months

  • dogs with little or no formal training

  • dogs who have completed puppy classes and want to continue

  • owners looking for personalised support without the cost of weekly one-to-one sessions

You do not need a “perfect” dog to join. Training is supportive, ethical, and based on modern, science-led methods. Progress is celebrated, no matter how small.

Who Teenage Training Is Not Suitable For

Due to the indoor setting and close proximity to other dogs, Teenage Training is not suitable for dogs with reactivity towards people or other dogs. These dogs are best supported through one-to-one training, where their individual needs can be addressed safely and effectively.

If you’re unsure whether this class is the right fit, completing the intake form allows us to check suitability before booking, or give Bren a call on 07933046435. Intake form: https://form.jotform.com/222366791157361

Pricing & Booking

  • £150 per six-week block

  • £120 member rate for clients who continue straight into the next block

Spaces are limited and booking is required. A £25 deposit holds your space on the class, with the final balance due 7 days before the first class. All enquiries are screened via the intake form to ensure the class is suitable for both you and your dog, and to allow sessions to be planned around individual goals from the outset.

Why Choose Teenage Training?

  • personalised training within a small group

  • ongoing support and accountability

  • real-life training around other dogs

  • confidence and enrichment alongside skill-building

  • an ethical, science-based approach

  • a cost-effective alternative to regular one-to-one training

If you’re looking for structured, supportive training that meets your dog where they’re at, this may be the perfect next step.

Classes take place at The Isabella Community Centre, Blyth, NE24 5JF, starting at 5pm on a Tuesday for six consecutive weeks until the end of the course.
